The Light of God illuminates our hearts and brings fresh life and hope when we open up our hearts and invite Him in. What a wonderful invitation! I love the thought of opening up my heart and having the light of God shining through me, to others, during my day. That sounds Awesome. But it is also a decision on my part to open my heart to God and turn from the ways of this world.
“I Am The Light of The World“
- In John 8:12 (ESV), Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
- Then, in Revelations 3:20 (NLT), He says, “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in …”
I love what those two verses show us. How Jesus wants to be part of our lives. It lets us know that every moment of every day, He is present. He is waiting for us to invite Him in. And when we do, when we give Him access to the dark places we’re afraid to expose – then something amazing happens! The sleeper awakes. What was dead is brought to life. And the Great Light of The World, Jesus Christ, can shine within us.
Ask Yourself
So, take a moment and ask yourself: In what areas of my life do I need God’s Light to shine? Where do I feel overwhelmed by the darkness, where fear has a hold of me, and I feel broken and ashamed. I find it hard to open up and let the Light of God shine on those areas of my life that show me as a broken fallen man. But the humility, to fall to my knees, and ask for help to face and overcome my fears is all He is asking of me.
Today, you too have the opportunity to let the Light in. You can answer Jesus’ knock on the door of your heart, open the door, and experience a real relationship with Him. With all my heart, I believe we are all part of a movement of God to shine in and through us upon the earth today. I truly believe He is bringing us from a place of religion to a relationship. It’s the cry in my heart that I want for everyone reading these words – especially for those who don’t know Jesus yet. But it starts with us letting the Light in, so the King of Glory can shine through us. Will you open your heart today and Let God Shine in and through you?
